At Nougat, your bread is baked with care the old-fashioned way using lots of wholesome ingredients and quality unbleached flours such as rye, whole wheat, seven-grain and spelt.
With all-natural ingredients, our loaves are made without artificial preservatives and flavours. The results are hand-made, European-style rustic breads which you can enjoy every day and feel good about eating.
Nougat’s exceptional bakery chefs gently shape each loaf and allow time for slow rising in our stone-deck oven. These techniques all work to create renowned flavourful and hearty breads.

Artisan breads are a labour of love made by time-honoured, European-inspired traditions. Nougat bakes 24 hours a day to ensure the process of preparing a loaf of bread is complete and not rushed. During preparation, the dough is constantly watched. Nougat’s traditional baking style means that the bread can take in excess of eight hours to prepare, but the results make it worthwhile. Customers are enticed by the tantalizing aroma, crispy golden crust, rich and flavourful taste, and perfect blend of textures.
Because our breads are baked fresh daily with no chemical preservatives, they are best when eaten the same day. Our hearty thick crust breads, however, will naturally preserve keeping the bread soft and flavourful for up to three days.
Nougat is committed to making the highest quality breads and some of our famous and favourite flavours include goodhearth, sourdough, 70%dark rye, mϋesli, and many others.
Our methods of baking are based on the traditional fermentation processes that have been used by world-renowned bakers for hundreds of years. These steps transform the flour and grains into a sourdough that is easier to digest and provides more nutrition. The process involves an artisan, hands-on approach where the dough is constantly watched to ensure it is developing perfectly based on the ambient temperature and humidity at the time of baking.
Each type of bread is formulated and mixed in its own separate batch to ensure that the distinct character and flavour of each type remain intact. The freshness of ingredients and quality of breads have drawn customers to Nougat since its inception in 1992.
